Terms of Use
Last updated: September 22, 2026
This English version is provided for convenience. The French version prevails in case of any discrepancy.
Who we are and acceptance
Bonjour Finance is operated by Le Groupe Vingt-Quatre Inc., a company incorporated in Quebec, Canada. Contact details are in section 17.
These terms form an agreement between you and Le Groupe Vingt-Quatre Inc. They apply to the website, the mobile app, and any feature offered under the Bonjour Finance name. Our privacy policy forms part of these terms.
What the service does
Bonjour Finance is a record-keeping tool for shared expenses and personal budgeting. It lets you:
- create groups and log shared expenses in them;
- split an expense between the members of a group;
- compute who owes whom, from what members have entered;
- record a reimbursement that already happened between two people;
- keep a personal budget of income and expenses.
Bonjour Finance moves no money
Bonjour Finance makes no payment, no transfer and no financial transaction. The app is not a financial institution, is not a payment service, holds no funds on your behalf, and connects to no bank account.
When you use the reimbursement feature, you declare that a reimbursement took place outside the app — in cash, by transfer, or by any other means you chose. The app simply adjusts the displayed balances accordingly. No funds move through Bonjour Finance, then or at any other time.
It follows that displayed balances only reflect what members have entered. They are not proof of payment, not an acknowledgement of debt, and not an account statement.
No financial advice
The information, charts, totals and indicators shown by the app are provided for information only. They are not financial, tax, accounting or legal advice, and are no substitute for a qualified professional.
Your account
- You must be 14 or older to create an account yourself. A younger person may use the service through a child account created by a parent or guardian (section 6).
- You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide, in particular your email address, which identifies you and is used to recover access.
- You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for any activity carried out from your account. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access.
- An account is personal. Do not share it; add other people as members of your groups instead.
Child accounts
A parent or guardian can create one or more child accounts linked to their own. These accounts give access to a simplified version of the app.
A parent or guardian who creates a child account declares that they have the authority to do so, accepts these terms on the child’s behalf, and remains responsible for the use of the account. A child account cannot exist on its own, cannot register by itself, and cannot create other accounts.
Invited members
You can add someone to a group using their name and email address, before they even have an account. That person receives an invitation and can activate their account by choosing a password.
By adding someone this way, you declare that you are authorised to give us their email address for that purpose. Only add people you genuinely share expenses with.
Groups and shared data
What you enter in a group — descriptions, amounts, notes, receipt photos — is visible to every member of that group. Do not enter anything you would not want them to see.
When you close your account, your personal information is erased, but expenses already recorded in a group are kept and anonymised. The reason is simple: deleting them would erase real debts between other people who did not ask for that. Your name is replaced by a neutral label.
Your content
You keep ownership of everything you enter in the app. You grant us only the licence needed to host, display and process that content in order to operate the service for you and for the members of your groups.
We do not use your financial information for advertising, and we do not sell it.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the service for illegal or fraudulent purposes;
- knowingly enter false amounts or reimbursements in order to mislead another member;
- upload unlawful or hateful content, or content that infringes the rights of others;
- attempt to access data from an account or group you are not a member of;
- disrupt, probe or circumvent the service through unauthorised automated means.
Pricing
For now, every feature of Bonjour Finance is free. No credit card is required to create an account or to use the app.
Sharing expenses will stay free. That is the promise shown on our home page, and we stand by it.
Beyond that core, the scope of what is offered for free may change, and we may add optional paid features. If that happens:
- the change will be announced at least 30 days in advance, by email or in the app;
- prices and terms will be shown before any purchase;
- no existing account will be charged without explicit consent;
- nothing you have already recorded will be taken away from you.
Service availability
We make reasonable efforts to keep the service available and reliable, without being able to guarantee it. The service may be interrupted for maintenance, updates, or because of a failure beyond our control.
We may change, add or remove features. If a change removes a feature you relied on, we will tell you by a reasonable means.
Export your data regularly if it matters to you. The app offers CSV and PDF export.
Limitation of liability
The service is provided “as is”. To the extent permitted by law, Le Groupe Vingt-Quatre Inc. is not liable for:
- disputes between group members about who owes whom — balances only reflect what members entered themselves;
- the accuracy of amounts, categories or reimbursements entered by users;
- losses arising from a service interruption or a loss of data;
- financial decisions made from the information displayed.
Nothing in these terms sets aside the rights Quebec law grants you as a consumer and that cannot be waived.
Suspension and account closure
You can close your account at any time from Profile → Danger zone. What closure does is described in section 8 and in the privacy policy.
We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, in particular section 10. Except where the situation requires immediate action, we will notify you and give you an opportunity to put things right.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. The last updated date appears at the top of this page. Any significant change will be announced by email or in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that date means you accept it.
Governing law and language
These terms are governed by the laws in force in the province of Quebec and the laws of Canada applicable there. Any dispute falls under the courts of the judicial district of Québec.
The French version of these terms prevails. This English version is provided for convenience; in case of any discrepancy, the French text governs.
